About the Ideas In ALL Blog

Mission

The blog aims to showcase topical and participatory research which revolves around person-centred systems and the application of appropriate technologies. It is interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary.

Values

  1. Inclusivity
  2. Accessibility
  3. Respect for Diversity
  4. Participation

We will pursue 4 main goals:

Provide a platform for interdisciplinary and multifaceted research: working across disciplines, sectors and, while remaining committed to independent research, we collaborate with civil society, policy makers, industry, intergovernmental organizations, United Nations agencies and most particularly individuals, especially those belonging to different marginalised groups.

Foster accessibility of research dissemination:  We encourage blog posts that are written in an accessible way and we encourage, alongside text based posts, audio versions, vlogs with closed captions, Irish Sign Language (ISL) posts. We welcome engagement with our blog from both early career and more advanced academics as well as stakeholders.

Discuss Topical issues and Tackle social exclusion: We welcome posts that reflect on and discuss current issues around the globe. Framing them in an accessible way to the general public whilst maintaining the academic rigor expected from the ALL Institute. We also encourage various viewpoints on a topic, ensuring respectful debate is maintained always.

Cultivating Empowering and Participatory Research: We hold at the forefront the importance of person-centred systems. We hence encourage evidence-based posts on participatory research practices, on research that critically analyse policies and laws, as well as lived experiences that are relevant to the ALL mission. Championing interdisciplinary, human-rights based and empowering research, this blog aims to address from an array of perspectives   social inclusion and participation.

The Authors are solely responsible as to the accuracy and correctness of any information included in their posts. This newly established and inclusive research institute focuses on the development and application of appropriate technologies, person-centred systems and evidence-based policies and laws in order to empower people across their life course and enhance their quality of life. By thinking through the context and meaning of people’s lives, ALL’s research promotes a comprehensive and human-rights based approach to social inclusion and participation. We provide an unparalleled interdisciplinary environment. We work across disciplines, sectors and, while remaining committed to independent research, we collaborate with civil society, policy makers, industry, intergovernmental organizations, United Nations agencies and most particularly individuals, especially those belonging to different marginalised groups.

People live their lives across many boundaries, and to contribute meaningfully to assisting living and learning we have to traverse these boundaries too!

The members of the ALL Executive are: Mac MacLachlan, Deirdre Desmond, Delia Ferri, Derek Barter, Michael Cooke, Katriona O’Sullivan, David Prendergast, Linzi Ryan, Jamie Saris and Rudi Villing.
